Electronic Frequencies on UCLAradio.com – 3/10/10Author : Charles FoxA spicy techno stew for you that brings in delightfully strange soundscapes and maniacal techno riddims. I had really just planned to play a few goofy techno tracks unmixed like the Bootsy Collins track for people who had been living under a rock without Dirtybird, but these intoxicating bombs got me in this swirl that needed a blen. Figuring out what the hell I was gonna throw in the blender was the real challenge. Now it’s way more technooo than I usually go, but these tracks are just too badass and wierd simultaneously. Take note of LA locals Android Cartel as their whole Androidica EP is delicious and freshly baked. Spiced with tapatio and splashed with thinly veiled excitement for Sasha this weekend and Loco Dice last weekend at Avalon, tonight’s meal: Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. For the second half of the show I wanted to give some insight to Sety, Phil K, and Bill Patrick. Tracks 6-10 come from Phil K’s “Balance004″ and are just such great examples of classic, stunning progressive house:
Then a bit of Bill Patrick’s Electronic Grooves Podcast to wrap it up in anticipation of this friday: And finally some lullabies from Sasha’s “New Emissions of Light and Sound” OST. Beautiful!!

Truly one of the best this year!Author : Charles FoxLee Burridge and Danny Howells came into LA Friday, Feb 26, 2010 and played a hell of a good set for Control at Avalon in Hollywood. After a bit of rest, records, and whining that we wish we could see them again in San Francisco that next Saturday…Tommy and I decided that we did indeed need plane tickets and wound up in SF by 4pm Saturday. Just in time to reconnect with my good friends at http://listedproductions.com and head over to 1015 Folsom to hear their phenomenal 6+ hour set! And who knew that Lee would push forth for a staggeringly good 7 hour afterparty tagteam set with Mike Khoury. An AMAZING journey making it an incredible and musically-gluttonous weekend. Truly one of the best this year!

Electronic Frequencies on UCLAradio.com – 2/24/10Author : Charles FoxBringing my decks into the station for a live 2.5 hr set, things went well and I was even able to fill a request from one of the listeners with Sasha’s rework of Ladytron – Happy to deliver! and what a great choon to boot. Here’s the tracklist I played February 24, 2010: Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. And that wrapped it up for my set but closing the show I featured a guest mix from Thomas Lee vs. C.o.P.E. Send him an email if you’re interested in getting a promo copy of his indie-dance, house, and hip-hop blend.

Life is all about transitionsAuthor : Charles FoxDroppin the DJ Synergy title. It’s time. New Year’s eve I was blessed to DJ for a group of close friends who helped me wake up from the 7 years as DJ Synergy the student and just introduce my real name, Charles Fox. The name “DJ Synergy” arose back in High School and it took time to drop the game and go with what I was given at birth. Bear with me as I get the name change propagated through my site and the mixes section

¡Graduation Elation!Author : Charles FoxSo I did it! I’m finally done with a bachelors of science in electrical engineering from UCLA and damn was it exhausting, in all forms, but mostly spriritually so…I always lacked the time to really delve into my music technology projects because we were too busy humping theory textbooks about semiconductors or being washed over by a sea of word vomit in the lecture halls. It was seriously depressing how infrequent we applied our knowledge, and the laboratories to do so? blegh. oh well, it’s time to leave the contageous misery backage back there in the engineering ‘ward’ and move forard AGHASLDGHALKSDGHALSGH I’M FREEEEE!

New in my lifeAuthor : Charles FoxI’m sorry to say with homework and different drama recently I haven’t been able to finish a Miami WMC gallery or blogpost, but I do have some morsels to share with you. There’s this badass tool called Photosynth by Microsoft that allows you to take many pictures of a particular environment and then create a fluid panorama of it that you can “step through”. The plugin needed to view the following two links is totally worth it, so check out the view from my hotel in Miami and that of my pimpstress friends’ on the 56th top suite: Also, I’m currently cooking up a new mix for you guys that will feature the sounds of a Roland Handsonic 10. What’s that you say? Well it’s a kickass electronic hand drum with velocity-sensitive MIDI triggering as well as 60 built in sample kits. Peep the armada that will bring your sonic assault:
