HOMEGROWN is an event that has decided to shift the focus from overseas to DJs born and/or residing within the USA.

This is a party starting at 10pm til way past your bedtime every 2nd & 4th Fridays of the month and whose objective is to showcase the amazing talents of DJs that are being overlooked by other events just because one doesn’t live in Berlin, UK, Amsterdam or what have you. In essence, we believe good music is good music, regardless of where you come from.

At the end of the day, this is an event for the scene, by the scene. The best part of it is, HOMEGROWN DJs know already what you like, and how you like it.

Saturday, March 5th I will be DJing the opening timeslot for Honey Lounge inside of club Avalon in Hollywood from 9:30pm to 11pm.
Joining me will be my incredibly talented friend Dory and another professional DJ named Jay-You in Honey Lounge while the main room features grammy award-nominated Morgan Page and an afterhours set by house music legend Donald Glaude. The Honey Lounge will close at 4am but the main room should go until well after sunrise…

I apologize for the late notice I’m giving you and I realize that not everybody is free (or even in town) but this dream come true will be even better with you there! 9:30 is super early, but there will be an open bar during my set and you’ll still have plenty of time to handle your other plans
If you rsvp, cover should only set you back $15 if you arrive before 10pm and $20 before 11pm.

Avalon has featured everybody in the entertainment world in the 80+ years it has been open including Sasha, Digweed, and every other big DJ to various musical talents like Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, The Beastie Boys, Madonna and even Judy Garland. Come check out the amazing venue and get down to the deep sexy tech-house I will be playing as respite from the higher-energy main-room circus. Musical gluttony is such a crippling bitch at times, but with some discipline and some amazing sunrises, I began to shovel the gems out of the lost caverns and into some mixing buckets. After almost a year of taste-making house and techno performances in the heart of Hollywood, Harmonic prepares to close the DAMAGED GOODS curtain at King King and move back to the underground this Fall with the epic HEAR saga. The captains responsible for this Bon Voyage for the ages are fittingly Harmonic’s favorite electronic music performance to date – JUNCTION SM (Dandy Jack [live] + Sonja Moonear[DJ]). Their set is a minimum 3 hours of perfect mixture of DANDY JACKs live improvisation and SONJA’s record selection. Dandy Jack’s sets are routed through 2 channels of Sonja’s DJ mixer in order to let her control the whole given sound. She can use his sounds as an additional source to her records, but also filter, cut or edit it with several effects. She pitches her records to Dandy Jack’s live set.

The link between the two of them and the crowd is the oxygen that fuels their performance. Depending on the development of the night, Dandy Jack can reload new sets while Sonja is taking over the dance floor, or she slows down her inputs and let Jack performing solo. Out of this chemistry comes a wonderful tension that drives the night till the early hours.Both performers’ inputs are generating such a generous and various sound flow that it gives the impression of a perpetual live production. You will never recognize any pieces, or have any repetition between the sets. The frontier between live sets and spinning records just vanishes. The audience gets lost in trying to figure out who’s doing what, creating an awe-inspiring night of some of the best electronic music you’ll ever hear.DANDY JACK is a live musician well-known through his own productions (Rather Interesting, Perlon, Telegraph..), remixes (Contexterrior, Crosstown Rebels, Roman Photo..), multiple projects (Sieg über Die Sonne, Gon (with Atom Heart), Amp (with Pete Namlook), Ric y Martin (with Ricardo Villalobos), Carabina 30 :30 (with Luciano)), as well as through his amazing energetic live appearances.SONJA MOONEAR is an active DJ from the Swiss mountains, party promoter and an occasional live performer that recently teamed up with French label KARAT for her own productions.

You wouldn’t yet know it from the Death Valley-like temperatures, but the summer is indeed nearing its bittersweet conclusion. For Culprit it means migrating our flock indoors, after a season-full of sunburned rooftop memories. But not before shaking our ya-ya’s one more time. The job of ushering the heat out the door falls to a quartet who have spent most of their lives fighting off the cold: Boston-born and -bred, SECT aka Soul Clap, Tanner Ross and Sergio Santos.

Accomplished producers and DJs all, the boys got together this year and formed a dance music boy band supergroup – possibly, a first (and last) of its kind. Conceptually, the tongue is firmly implanted in cheek, as SECT indulges in its own brand of humor with clever visual references and general air of cryptic goofiness – but musically, this SECT means business. Combining considerable production talents of its members, SECT made its debut on our label in May, its Man of Wisdom EP becoming a significant debut for Culprit as well – its first ever vinyl release. The three track EP of slow burning funk-laden jams received acclaim from a wide variety of tastemakers. Another track SECT has created for Culprit, Thieve $krilla, was featured on a hugely respected compilation for Mule Musiq last month:

In addition to breaking the mold as part of SECT, its individual components have been creating their own deafening buzz. Soul Clap are in the midst of their own Moment in the sun, as their unique blend of R’n'B-infused slowed down house has been conquering all in its path, from Berlin to London, Japan, Ibiza, Mexico and beyond… Tanner Ross and Sergio Santos have also teamed up for some memorable work in the last 12 months…Deep House with earth shattering bass and some disco loving is the name of the game. Tanner and Sergio’s set at Shit Show party was one of the highlights of the Detroit Music Festival weekend for many who witnessed it.

Nowadays, And.ID is known for his one-man ensemble of techno, house, jazz, and bossa nova music which he harnesses for Mobilee Records. Please enjoy the following interview I recorded with the gentleman in anticipation of his visit to the states.
